About the Role
We are looking for a Tax Specialist for our Mexico finance team who will be responsible for ensuring comprehensive tax compliance and reporting across local and international tax laws. You will prepare and file corporate tax returns, VAT/GST filings, and other essential tax reports, ensuring the timely payment of all tax obligations such as corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and other applicable levies. You will play a key role in tax planning and advisory, analyzing tax regulations to identify opportunities for minimizing liabilities while advising the company on tax implications of business decisions such as transactions, expansions, and investments. You will collaborate with finance and accounting teams to enhance tax efficiency, streamline reporting processes, and leverage the existing ERP system for improved accuracy. You will also be responsible for coordinating with external auditors and tax authorities during audits and inspections, preparing responses to inquiries, and staying informed on changes in tax laws to ensure compliance.
What You’ll be Doing
Tax Compliance & Reporting:
Prepare and file corporate tax returns, VAT/GST filings, and other tax-related reports in compliance with local and international tax laws.
Ensure timely payment of all tax obligations, including corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and other applicable levies
Ensure accurate and timely VAT collection, remittance, and refund claims, particularly for capital-intensive purchases.
Maintain accurate tax records and documentation to support audits and regulatory requirements.
Tax Planning & Advisory:
Analyze tax regulations and identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance.
Advise the company on the tax implications of business decisions, including transactions, expansions, and investments.
Assist in developing tax strategies to optimize efficiency and manage risks.
Audit & Regulatory Compliance:
Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities during tax audits and inspections
Prepare responses and supporting documents for tax audits, disputes, or inquiries.
Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and advise management accordingly.
Process Improvement & Documentation:
Develop and improve tax reporting systems and internal controls.
Work finance and accounting teams to enhance tax efficiency and streamline reporting processes leveraging the existing ERP system.
Document tax processes and policies for internal use and compliance purposes.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with finance, legal, and business teams to ensure alignment on tax matters.
Provide training and guidance to internal teams on tax-related issues and regulatory changes.
Assist in managing transfer
What You will need for this position
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Master’s or CPA/ACCA/CTA qualification is a plus).
3+ years of experience in tax accounting, compliance, or advisory roles.
Strong knowledge of corporate tax laws, VAT/GST regulations, and international taxation principles.
Experience with tax filing software and ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is preferred).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills for liaising with tax authorities, auditors, and internal stakeholders

Directly reporting to our Finance Manager - Mexico, and closely working with our Operations and Finance Teams.
